Launched in September 2016 in little more than a year it has reached a great popularity grabbing the attention of teenagers all over the world.  This  very popular Chinese social network  is different from other social networks for uploading videos and sharing them with friends. It is an entertainment platform where users  or it’s better to say tiktokers show off their talent by short videos, edit and manipulate their own video content with little or no budget.

Videos are short and fast- paced and they keep playing on a loop.

However being a good tiktoker takes time and a lot of practice but there is a universe of opportunity on the platform for both creators and businesses.

The most popular genres on TikTok are: Lyp-syncs (dancing and moving your lips to a snippet of a popular song), Pets (adorable puppets and kittens), Challenges (absurd and sometimes dangerous challenge from cooking to sports, from comedy to  dance), Nemes (hilarious visual jokes), Cosplay (dressing up as a fictional character-especially manga and anime, video games or TV show).

Who is the most famous tiktoker?

Charli D’amelio is a 16 year old girl with 100 millions of followers.

She is a  dancer, singer, a great performer from Connecticut with the dream of doing her job professionally.

She is very committed to the fight against cyberbullying and world hunger, in fact she has organized many online meetings to combat these problems: an example for all children and for the positive use of social media.

However it must be noted that Chinese government imposes strict controls and a degree of censorship over online information and sites. Moreover Tik Tok  has been accused by the American government and by the hacktivists Anonymous has denounced the danger of the app identifying it as a real Malware controlled by the Chinese government, which would act to carry out mass espionage.

According to global brands it is the most profitable and safest way to reach the so called Generation Z.
