GREEN FRIDAY vs BLACK FRIDAY
Il Green Friday una sana alternativa al consumo compulsivo nei periodi di Black Friday
Sustainability against consumption, welcome to the capitalism challenge of the 21th century.
Green Friday is the anti Black Friday movement. This movement was started to help raise awareness about the impact of society’s shopping habits.
So let ‘s go and analyze what are the differences between Black Friday and Green Friday.
Black Friday (which usually extends over the entire weekend) is characterized by discounts that can reach to 50% or even more. The effect this has on people’s behaviour is amazing; we see a mad rush to catch goods all over the world and this is not positive especially for the planet. The over consumption produce over pollution and the wealth is not redistributed to the whole human population. Black Friday moves the economy but also creates more poverty and, above all, an enormous amount of waste products.
We know that it can be difficult to resist 50% off sales, but more shoppers tend to buy more than they need. ”Take a moment to reflect” whether you really need that item and why.
Is there a connection between Green Friday and Circular economy? Sure. Circular economy has replaced Linear economy with its. strategy to replace products that aren’t wasted but recycled, decreasing human impact on the environment. A lot of consumer products can be re-used to produce low pollution energy. As example, copper through circular economy can be recycled indefinitely without any loss of quality.
The Linear economy produces a lot of waste and pollution, instead Circular economy goes towards zero waste leading us to improve the life quality.
Green economy model is based on re-use, recycle, refurbish in a close loop, trying to keep the value of products.
So, this this year’s Christmas shopping season is going to start and there is one month to show ourselves how much we can do for our planet. Please, shop more mindfully and sustainably.
I will and…. what about you?
