The World Water Day ’s celebrated  on MARCH 22nd every year. This date was choosen by THE UNITED NATIONS in 1992 to remind people that water is a common good.

The World Water Day underlines that there is a need for global attention to this resource, precious but not long lasting.

Like AIR, WATER is one of the most important element for the  preservation of LIFE . Water is a convenience for everyone but we must not  waste it ,because we are facing a considerable drought today.

In our society , expecially in  Europe, we consume water considerably. We should be able to respect this GOOD and use it sustainably , as it is recommended in Goal 6 of the AGENDA 2030 and , avoiding waste  with recycling and reuse.

We don’t often mind about the waste of this natural resource : we don’t mind of our long showers, of wasting water when brushing our teeth, of wasting water doing choirs, of wasting water when we wash our cars.

During the last “World Water Day”  we had a debate at school about our behaviour and attitudes .Our consideration after that debate was the following: we should  change our  point of view as consumers and change our behaviour too. But bad consumers are Carla, Andrea and Emiliana, three school friend’s of mine.

For example, when Carla has a shower, she always spends a lot of time under the rushing water. Since 22nd March she has  understood that  she could really make the difference in her  GORI’s bill and in society.

Andrea brushes his teeth using  waterfalls of water for long. His mother always tells him to turn the tap off. Perhaps now, since that 22nd March , he would use a glass and less water.

The WORLD WATER DAY’S EFFECT has changed also Emiliana’s behaviou. She understood that she could reuse the cooking water of pasta, instead of throwing it  away: in fact she could use it to water her plants at home.

So guys, let’s start changing our daily behaviour at home ,at work,  at school!!!We can really make the difference!!!
