We have been for more than eighteen months in the Coronavirus pandemic  with a more and more increasing numbers of 180 million cases and about 4 four million deaths worldwide. This lingering negative effect and  massive disruption  is also affecting in a negative way the global economy.

Vaccine are now a vital tool to get us out of the crisis.

But not everyone  agrees. There are pockets of every ideologically and socially diverse people who are ardently opposed to the current vaccination campaign against Covid-19, and to vaccines in general.

Those who are against, or have serious doubts about vaccination  occupy a wide spectrum.

Their reasons  for rejecting the jab are numerous:  false belief about the cause of autism or other unsustaninable health claims,  mistrust towards the scientific establishment and pharmaceutical companies, beliefs in natural immunity and natural rimedies instead of tested laboratory medicine, and anti-authoritarian and libertarian ideas about personal freedoms and body sovereignty among others. Like in a sci-fi film someone believes in the possibility that with a simple injection there can be  the implantetion  of a microchip under people’s  skin to be  controlled by an unknown entity or that vaccination  is a part of  a scheme to depopulate the planet.

The World Health Organisation has listed vaccine hesitancy as one of the top threats to global health.

Anti vaxxers  belive that vaccines and other measures like wearing masks are an assault on their individual rights often  compare mandatory masks and covid restriction to the lack of freedom of slavery and the Holocaust, and call the pandemic simply a hoax.

Luckily exists a  great number of  global leaders and celebrities who  are inviting people through webpages , documentaries and videos,  to get vaccinated as the vaccines  are the best measure  to reduce a person’s risk of contracting the virus that cause COVID-19 and are highly effective against severe illness.  They have a significant audience, large enough to sustain this important  campaign in favour to the utility of vaccination against Covid-19.

In my opinion : we can’t let up now. The vaccines are safe, they work. The coronavirus has provoked much death and suffering, affecting the lives of many, especially the most vulnerable so,  getting vaccinated. Vaccination  is a concrete gesture that everyone can do and we’ll get through this faster.
