We all know that the eighth  of September 2022 King Charles III ascended the throne after the heart-breaking death of his mother: Queen Elizabeth II; but, now the question is:” Who is Charles III really? And “Will he be successful and loved just like  the Queen?”

Born on 14 November 1948, Charles III is now  the king of United Kingdom and many other  realms including Canada and Australia: since he was heir from the age of three, he surely knows all the tricks of the trade! In fact, he was raised in a very privileged setting but also very strict and full of duties. It’s said that his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, was very severe to him and not so lovely as a father should be. It’s also true that Charles learned a lot from his father, even though he was often strict with him, because Philip wanted his son to be a perfect heir. Charles studied anthropology, history and archeology at the Trinity College in the Uk, and his degree was the first achieved by a heir  in the royal British dynasty.

Charles is also known to have a complicated private life: he was once married to Lady Diana but, as we all remember, their love story has been really difficult. After their divorce, she got in a  car accident on 31 August 1997 where she tragically  died. But the heart of our Charles didn’t stop beating for another woman: Camilla Parker-Bowles.  This woman has always been Charles’ love: since college, where they met for the first time! Unfortunately, at that time, he was compelled to marry Diana Spencer and not to follow his feelings for Camilla. Now they’re happily married since 2005, and when he became the new King, she was nominated Queen Consort as wife of reigning king. Charles has also demonstrated  a really high sensibility and interest  towards the environment and how the pollution effects the country; for this reason,  in  1970  he made a beautiful speech about it He dedicated much of himself to his country, so people, as time went on , started to respect him more and more.   He founded the Prince of Wales’ Institute of Architecture and in 1998 he created the Prince’s Foundation in order to guarantee his reign  a better future. However , “Have you ever heard about black-spider memos ?” Charles once wrote some letters to MPs and Prime Minister for urging them to take action on the issues of the country. They called them “black spider memos” because of his handwriting and, even though they were benign, it was opened a debate about how the Monarchy was influencing the government.

For sure he promised to keep fighting for the environment protection!

Anyway being the son of the most beloved Queen of the British Monarchy  history isn’t so easy: there are lots of high expectations and there are lots of responsibilities! We can’t know if he will be a good king  such as his mother, but we can hope he’ll being responsible and  caring for the next generations, in order not to repeat the mistakes made in the past.

By the way I can’t wait for his coronation on  the morning of Saturday 6 May 2023. I ‘ll be there and so I hope so for you too!
